Yes, you can put a link back to your site. I have seen quite a few robots that say "Powered by X" and "X" being a link to a site.

If you wish to a build a service like this, then I guess the users will have to sign up with you on your site and your gadget has to offer some sort of login so that you know that a user has a particular tutoring session at a time specified and they have paid already etc.

To get this sort of service traction, you need to be more concerned with getting users to your site and using that wave gadget as a product and not as an advertisement tool itself. In the scenario I have described above, the users will be using the gadget because they are already aware of your site and are using the gadget. So the gadget doesn't need to serve as an advertisement tool...if that was your intention?
